Back in 1885 they didn’t have instant pancake mix — just add water! =/

Mama used to be barefoot in the kitchen, pregnant with her seventh child, making pancakes from scratch… after she beat the dirty clothes against the rocks.

So when you finally decide to make your family a decent breakfast (using this recipe, of course), you will NEVER EVER go back to eating whatevertheheck instant mix you have used in your deep, dark past for as long as you have breath in your body.

Now, take your shoes off and get your apron on so you can feed your hungry six kids.

I always use a ceramic griddle.  Whoever invented this is a genius. She must be of the female persuasion.

I shall never go back to using a regular frying pan.   Once you have used a ceramic griddle, all others are antiquated.

I will say this… take care in banging any metal object onto the ceramic. It will scar the top of the griddle.

Consequently, my healthy, homemade pancakes are just simply the best pancakes my husband has ever eaten. He has been all around the world, courtesy of The NAVY.

HEALTHY, HOMEMADE PANCAKES

Yield: 8-9 Ahhhhhmazing Pancakes

Enjoy your food AND make those kids clean up!

Ingredients

    Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup of Organic Milk
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup of Organic Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/4 Heaping Cup of Organic Flax Seed (or 1/2 heaping cup and add no wheat germ)
  • 1/4 Heaping Cup of Organic Wheat Germ
  • 1 Tablespoon of Organic Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 1/4 Tablespoons of Unsalted Butter (melted) (If you use Salted Butter, use 1/4 tsp. of Salt)
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Bottle of Organic Maple Syrup

Instructions

    Instructions:
  • Preheat the griddle on the stove for about 10 minutes on low.
  • Combine the milk and apple cider vinegar and let set 5 minutes.
  • Combine all other ingredients except the maple syrup.
  • After the 5 minutes, pour the milk and apple cider vinegar into the mix.
  • Stir with a whisk.
  • Make sure to get all the clumps out.
  • Take a ladle and dole out the batter onto the griddle.
  • When the pancakes bubble at the top, it's time to flip!
  • I heat my toaster oven to 150˚ to keep the already made pancakes warm.
  • I heat up the maple syrup as well.
